Show Y-Z Trail Association Adopts New Highway Sign Program at Three-State Meet in Cedar ""The Y-Z Trail Association president pres-ident Bill McGhle announced that $1500 will be used in making mak-ing billboards and highway signs for the organization's advertising advertis-ing program in 1959. The money was decided upon at the three-state three-state association meeting in Cedar Ce-dar City Saturday,- June 6. 1 I Decision was made by members mem-bers of the association to use highway signs and billboards for advertising the Yosemlte to ZIon Trail for this year. Previous use of brochures have proven inef-fldent inef-fldent in publicizing the route. Group members from Utah, Nevada Ne-vada and California felt that more tourists could be better Informed In-formed by highway markers. The group felt that well-marked highway signs were especially needed at the beginning of the trail In California where roads were not very good. According to President McGhle, making and maintenance of the signs have been bid for by the National Advertising Company of Ogden. Present at the meeting was Lloyd DuBols, representative of the company, who presented a film on advertising to the association. as-sociation. Date of the next Trail meeting has been tentatively set for Saturday, Sat-urday, Aug. 8 In Lee Vinlng, Cal. Arrangements for a three-day trip to Lee Vinlng and Yosemlte National Park are being made by the association. President McGhle Mc-Ghle reports that auto caravans, sponsored by various chambers of commerce In Utah and Nevada,, Neva-da,, will transport Interested people peo-ple to the meeting. Arrangements are to be made with local civic groups. Dinnrr meeting of the Y-Z Trail Association was at 8 p. m. in the El Escalante Hotel. Those attending the meeting were guests of Clarence Miller, Iron County Commissioner. |
