The meeting subject for the Month of February was "True Americanism American-ism My Responsibility," and this theme has been stressed during the month by carrying out an essay contest on the theme among the students at the Parowan Hign S lio.u. The first, second and third nla 'e winners in the contest had ' been chosen previous to the Sat-1 urday meeting and the winners were In attendance to read the essays they had written on the subject. I Miss Bonnie Jean Jensen won irst place, Miss Sue Dunton was . cond place winner and Miss ' LaVonna Jones won third place, and were in attendance to receive cash prizes of $5, $3 and $2 respectively, re-spectively, and read their papers. Miss Jensen, an eighth grade student is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Jenson, Miss Dunton, a ninth grader, is a daughter of Mr. ant! Mrs. Frank Dunton, Paragonah Par-agonah and Miss Jones, an eighth grader, is a daughter of i Mr. and Mrs. Alma Jones. i The committee In charge of the contest states that 36 students In, the local school entered the con-' test. The first and second place winning essays will be entered in District Seven competition to be held March 16 and the winners win-ners from here will enter the state meet The next meeting of the American Amer-ican Legion Auxiliary will be held on Thursday, today, at 3 p. m. at the home of Mrs. Farris Evans, she informs us. At this time the state officers of the organization or-ganization will make their official offi-cial visit to the local unit and instruct Its members as to the program for the year. All members mem-bers are urged to be present. |
