Show Board Inter vie vs Architects On Library Plans The Paiowan City librar. board held a rather lengthy set sion on Monday night to mak preliminary plans for the con struction of a new library build ing here, according to Mrs. Flor ence S. Mitchell, secretary anc treasurer of that board. At this meeting the board con ferred with four architectura firms on plans for the ne building, These firms had mad requests to be given an oppor tunity to come and confer wltl the local board and submit qua liflcations on planning for the project. Members of these firms had spent time in Parowan during dur-ing the day, going over the old building and site for the proposed pro-posed new one, and made some tentative suggestions and submitted sub-mitted their fees on such a project. pro-ject. Meeting with the board were representatives of the firms of Gardner and Rasmussen, Cedar City; John S. Rowley, Cedar City; Edwards and Daniels, and Jackson Jack-son and Sharp, both Salt Lake City. All submitted fees at the basic figure of 6'r for preparing plans and specifications for the proposed building. The new library li-brary building will be built between be-tween the Iron County and Parowan Paro-wan City Library boards. The local board will consider the offers and then employ one of the firms to draw up the plans and specification. All stated stat-ed that they would need from two to four months time in which to draw up plans before a call for bids for construction could be made. The board, which consists of Mrs. Mitchell, secretary-treasurer; Mayor Osmer Nielsen, chairman. chair-man. Mrs. Marguerite Orton, Mrs. Jean Hendrickson, Chester Benson Ben-son and Howard Joseph, intend to meet right away to consider the employment of an architect to expedite the project, according to Mrs. Mitchell. |
