Show Cook Shack Aids Valley Lions in Big Shoot I ESCALANTE VALLEY According Ac-cording to reports from President Warren Piatt, general chairman, md Tony C Alberto, chairman of the "cook-shack" facilities the Escalante Valley Lions Club annual turkey shoot was a big success. Nlmrods from all over the state of Utah and many out-of-state hunters participated in the pheasant hunt in the Escalante Valley, and many of them too advantage of the chance to win a 10 to 12 pound turkey at the trap shoot facilities at the community com-munity park at Beryl Junction. One of the big winners was Horace Phe'ps of Modena who won three birds and stated this was his first try at trap shooting. shoot-ing. The Lions Club members also operated their own cook shack serving over 80 ham and egg breakfasts the opening morning of the hunt. The Lions Club cook shack is becoming famous in the county for Its hamburgers and ham and egg breakfasts served at the turkey shoot and the Iron County Fair. Cook shack facilities were increased in-creased this year with the donation dona-tion of an old bus chassis by Mr. Zuckerman of the Enterprise Farms. Plans are under way to make this into a portable unit which will be taken to the Iron County Fair and other county activities. The profits realized from the operation of this annual project are used in the operation of the Lions Club sponsored Boy Scout and Cub Scout groups and various vari-ous other community projects. |
