Show Region Ten Band Festival Slated for Week End A total of 140 band students selected from high'school bands In Region Ten will convene in Cedar City this week end for a special all-region band festival It was announced this week by Sheldon Johnson, Millard High School band director. Students selected to participate In the all-region event will have the rare opportunity of working under the direction of Dr. Clarence Clar-ence Sawhill, director of bands at the University of California at Los Angeles. Dr. Sawhill Is ranked as one of the top music educators in the entire United States. At the conclusion of the two-day festival festiv-al a public concert will be staged. The concert will be presented In the College of Southern Utah auditorium at 8 p. m. Arrangements for the event in Cedar City have been under the direction of Harold Boyce, director of bands In the Cedar City school system. Following is a list of Cedar High School band students who will participate in the festival: Pat Truman and Kathy Bring-hurst, Bring-hurst, flute; Jerilee Houchen and Cheryl Brown, French horns; Dan Jones, tenor saxophone; Ronald Carpenter and Joe Sandberg. cornets; cor-nets; Choree Frehner, Reta Batty, T-.:: 1 . 2 Kathy Truman, clarinets; Morris Wood, trombone, Gerl Peterson, contrabass clarinet; clari-net; Chesley William, bass clarinet; clari-net; Danny Roberts, alto clarinet; clari-net; Lark Flanlgan, timpani; Donna Garfield, bassoon; Nancy Johnson, oboe; JoNeal Bradshaw. E flat clarinet; James Webster, alto saxomphone and Clinton Warby, bass clarinet. Students from the Parowan High School who will participate In the band festival are announced announc-ed by L. N.
