Show DECEMBER 23RD PRODUCTION Soloists Selected for 1961 "Messiah" The annual production of The Messiah is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 17, in the College of Southern South-ern Utah auditorium. Soloists have been chosen for this performance and include: Janice Olsen, Cleone Wilklns, La-Ree La-Ree Radmall, sopranos; Lois Mac-farlane, Mac-farlane, and Cynthia Williams, altos; Herschel Neeley and Wil-lace Wil-lace Adams, tenors; and Kent Myers, bass. One feature of this year's Messiah Mes-siah will be the performance of the beautiful and notoriously difficult, dif-ficult, "The Trumpet Shall Sound, " an aria fo; bass voice and featuring the trumpet solo played by Harold Boyce. Mr. Boyce is one of Utah's outstanding outstand-ing trumpeters, and for the first time in Cedar City for many years, we will hear the performance perfor-mance of the bass and trumpet duet Two new choruses will be added add-ed to the program that are favorites fav-orites of Messiah liteners. "And with His Stripes We are Healed" and "All We Like Sheep Have Gone Astray" are both among the best examples of Handel's choral writing. Under the combined direction of Professors Roy L. Halversen and Blaine Johnson, the orchestra, orches-tra, chorus and soloists are shaping shap-ing up to an excellent rendition of this famous work. Performance Perfor-mance time on December 17 is 8:00 p. m. The public is invited. There is no charge for admission. |
