Show I Rams to Open Basketball Season in Junction Parowan High School basketball basket-ball team will open its practice schedule of games on Friday of this week when the squad travels trav-els to Junction to meet the team from the new Piute County High School, which is a combination of the last year Circleville and Marysvale high schools, and' therefore should be plenty good The Parowan aggregation, under un-der Coach John Wood, is made up of five of last year's squad and seven men up from the 19G1 1 Junior varsity aggregation. This year's team is still short on height as well as experience with only two members seeing much action last season. Coach Wood stated the first of the week that scrimmages on Tuesday and Wednesday would probably determine the five he will start In the game on Friday at Junction. Saturday night the Rams entertain en-tertain the tall, talented and veteran vet-eran studded Cedar High team of Coach Bruce Decker. Decker's only on-ly handicap in this game will be the fact that many of his first string returnees were still playing play-ing football last Saturday. Next week's games sees the Rams travel to Henderson for a game with Basic High on Friday and then will return home for a game with Escalante High on Saturday night. Coach Wood informs in-forms us that this game is being sponsored by the swimming pool committee of the Parowan Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce, with all proceeds pro-ceeds of the game to go into the swimming pool fund. The following week end. Dec. 15 and 16 the annual Iron County Coun-ty Innrnamont la ot Parnurnn will meet the South Sevier Higli team from Monroe in the field house at Cedar City In the open-In,; open-In,; game of the meet, and Saturday Satur-day the teams will switch to Parowan with the Rams meeting the Gunnison Bulldogs in the second game of the evening. In this game Parowan fans will get an opportunity to see the cele braed Gary Hill In action. Practice sessions of the first two weeks will also feature junior jun-ior varsity games and Coach Wood selected the following boys last week to make up this aggregation: aggre-gation: Mike Hyatt, Gary Sim- kins, Richard Van Ausdal, Karl Banks, Claude Jones and Ronald Decker, sophomores; Clinton Bentley, Ben-tley, Mac Clark, Jerry Michaelie, Danny Barton, Mike Cartwrlght and Joe Nez, freshmen. |
