By virtue of a win over the Elk Rulers In the Little League program pro-gram Wednesday night, the Lion Tamers dispelled all hopes of the 'other five teams of the league and wound up a near perfect season to cop first place and the 1956 league title. Of the eight hits for Elks, three were doubles, by Don A. Ma-theson, Ma-theson, Robert Smith and Claude Slack. Donnie Roberts doubled for Kiwanis for the only extra base hit. Milne held a 13 to 0 lead at the end of three frames, but Kiwanis bounced back with eight runs in the fourth and seven in the final Inning to score the victory. Although some games have been postponed, it Is Indicated that league play will end Friday Fri-day evening when Rotary and Milne meet. Lions, the league winners, have completed all 10 of their games and cannot be caught. As a result the decision to end league play Friday will nrobably be made, eliminating the necessity to move Into an extra ex-tra week of play. |
