Show Elks Gather for Combined Lodge Canyon Fete Approximately 200 people turn-Webster's turn-Webster's Flat camp ground for the annual canyon party of the Benevolent and Protective Order, of Elks. The large crowd Included Elks from the Kanab, and St. George, lodges in addition to the Cedar. City lodge, attesting to the draw-Ing draw-Ing capacity of the yearly event. Dinner was served from 12 noon to 4 p. m. from an outdoor out-door kitchen, with steaks cooked cook-ed to the Individual's taste. Corn on the cob and all the trimmings trim-mings completed the delicious meal. Shortly after the first Elks arrived ar-rived pegs were set out tor horse shoe pitching and were steadily occupied for the remainder of the day. A baseball game between be-tween the ladies and their husbands hus-bands proved to be a crowd gatherer gath-erer and held the attention of many of the Elks for some time. Baseball and horseshoes occupied occu-pied the rest of the afternoon with the affair breaking up at about 8 p. m. Much deserved thanks was given to Don Nelson and his committees, com-mittees, which included: Steak cooks, Chet Barrlck. Bob Nelson and Don Nelson; corn detail, Riley Ri-ley Taylor and Bud Corlett; grounds committee, Harris Nelson Nel-son and Fred Leigh; refreshments, refresh-ments, Don Ence, J. V. Adams, and LaVon Beatty; ticket sales and monies were handled by Ken Clark and Wally Adorn" Also on the committee was Donrl Hunter. |
