Show PaiowannidWard Wins Trophy J For Sportsmanship j The Parowan Second Ward Jun- j pated in the Division II tourna-lor tourna-lor M-Men Softball team partici-ment partici-ment held in Cedar City last week, and won the sporstman-ship sporstman-ship trophy awarded annually to the team displaying the best attitude at-titude along this line. The Parowan team played an : ineligible team from the St j George Stake on Wednesday evening eve-ning and was given the game by forfeit. This put them in the sec-lond sec-lond round of play which pitted the Parowan team against the strong Cedar Sixth Ward team on Friday night. They dropped this I game by a wide margin and jwent Into the losers bracket for the final round of play. On Saturday night the Parowan Paro-wan tteam met the Las Vegas Sixth Ward for third and Mth place and lost again by a score of 16 to 9. and thus dropped to fifth place in the standings. But those who were called on to keep score for the awarding of the sportsmanship trophy came up with clean score cards for the Parowan boys in their ac tions on the field, in the dugout dug-out and awarded them the custody cus-tody of the trophy for the coming com-ing year. This is a revolving -trophy and a. team armst win it three straight years to gain permanent per-manent possession of it. The Parowan Par-owan lads should be comrlimnt-ed comrlimnt-ed on their winning this fine trophy, which is on display In the Bishop's room of the First-Second First-Second Ward chapel at the present pres-ent time. |
