Show PARAGONAH NEWS NOTES By Hilma Lamoreaux Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Robb and Mrs. Joan Rosen were traveling to Las Vegas on Monday to meet Mr. Rosen who was flying from California to be with his family. Mrs. Rosen and the two children chil-dren arrived here some time apo to spend some time at their summer sum-mer home, the old John Barton residence. Charles and Douglas Murie arrived ar-rived back in town on Monday after a month's absence. They spent one week in Salt Lake City risiting relatives and then accompanied ac-companied their aunt anil uncle Ella and Harold Wallace and their sister, Ellen Dalton back to Allamagordo, N. M., for the remaining re-maining three weeks. Mrs. Wilma Lamoreaux presented pre-sented 12 of her piano students at a recital on Friday evening of last week. The number who were present enjoyed the hour long program very much. Students Stu-dents who participated were Judy Ju-dy Talbot. Parbara Stones, Linda I tap IVilton, Claudia Jones, Vicki le Robinson, Mina Lamoreaux. Sara Lister, LaRae Lamoreaux. Sherry Dawn Evans, Vicky Ann Evans, Lana Jean Topham and Geraldine Stubbs. Mrs. Anna Ganunfr who is vis iting the T. A. Robinson family enjoyed a friday trip to Veyo and St. George with her nephews. Tommy and Billy Evans of Pa rowan. ro-wan. Mr. and an 3 Mrs. J. Lowe Barton Bar-ton and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Robb traveled to Cedar City on Wednesday Wed-nesday to attend the funeral ser- vice for Mrs. Elizabeth Craw Bar-i ton, wife of their nephew Lyle Barton. The young woman died following a heart operation. Mr. and Mrs. Orval Lamoreaux of St. George visited here recently recent-ly with the Chester Robinson family. Mrs. Olive B. Edwards observed observ-ed her 77th birthday on June 2.1. Althoivli no formal celebration was planned many friends and neighbors called to express their t good wishes to her on that day Mrs. LaPriel Linford and chil- dren and Mrs. Maxine Keifferi and family of Henderson, Nev. are visiting at the Howard Jones, family. We understand that Mrs. Keiffer's husband, Major Alvin Keiffer, will here in July or August Aug-ust after being stationed in Afri-I Afri-I ca since November of 1937. Fol-' Fol-' lowing a short leave . the family i will go to Spokane, Wash., where Major Keiffer will have his next assignment. Mr. and Mrs. James H. Anderson, Ander-son, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Robinson and Mrs. Lula Bastion spent Wednesday of last week in St. George at the Temple. They also visited briefly with Mrs. Robinson's Rob-inson's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Job F. Hall. On Tuesday of last week funeral fu-neral services were held in Pan-guitch Pan-guitch for Calvin Miller, brother broth-er of Mrs. Edith Barton. Among the Paragonah people who attendee! at-tendee! the funeral in addition to Don and Edith, were Pauline Topham, Mrs. Alice Robinson, Mrs. Sarah It. Stones and Mrs. Lula Bastian. Mrs. Cynthia Hunt and hr three litle children of Stockton. Utah, came to town early last week for a visit with Lasea Hunt and her daughters, Mildred and Janet. Berri'dl will arrive later to spend some time here. Mrs. Iras Jones and son Tom were home from Panguitch from Friday to Sunday, but have returned re-turned to Panguitch to be with Mrs. Jones' mother, Mrs. Eva Bell. The elderly lady has been ! hospitalized with a severe illness and Is still in poor health. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lund traveled to Provo on Friday of last week for a check up with Willard's doctor there. It seems the ailing foot is slightly Improved Im-proved at present, which is good news to the luods and their friends. Mr. and Mrs. Lund report a recent re-cent visit from Willard's sister, Mrs. Grace Cox and her husband Owen and two of their sons, all of Las Vegas. They were accompanied accom-panied by the Misses Cala and Kathleen McAllister of St. George. The group had been to Salt Lake City and stopped here on their way home. Gordon Topham was in town Monday to spend the day with his grandmother, Mrs. Elva Mc-Bride. Mc-Bride. Gordon is employed at Bryce Canyon for the summer. The summer swimming program pro-gram for the county began last week and many of Paragonah's young people joined the group that travt'l'.v! Cedar Ci,v rr"' for lessons. Boys were taken on Thursday forenoon and the girls went on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Edwards enjoyed a visit from four young lady friends from the Westwood, Calif, area. The girls were In Utah to visit the Southern Utah Parks and spent some time at the Edwards home. Mrs. Irene Robinson was scheduled sched-uled to enter the Utah Valley Hospital at Provo on Monday. She was to undergo extensive tests in connection with her chronic chro-nic kidney ailment. Dale Smith, son of Mrs. Iras Jones, of Paragonah, has received his notice to report for his pre-induction pre-induction physical examination in July. Dale moved to Idaho early ear-ly this spring after his marriage to Joeline Stewart of Adams-ville. Adams-ville. Miss Mary Ward of Tarowan, a recently returned missionary was the visltli.g speaker In Sacrament Sac-rament meeting on Sunday. She was accompanied to Taragonah by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. There was a great deal of excitement ex-citement In town Saturday nf-ternoon nf-ternoon when a fire on the school grounds got out of control and spread rapidly to adjacent areas. James H. Anderson, school custodian, cus-todian, started the fire to burn some dry weeds and thought he used all necessary precautions. However, the exceedingly strong wind carried the fire past the contemplated spot Into the brush, etc. above the school grounds and did considerable damage to a grain patch belonging to Frank Lister. A number of local men and the Tarowan fire department worked diligently to put out the dangerous conflagration. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stevens welcomed wel-comed a new little daughter on Friday evening, June 27, at the! Iron County Hospital. The baby weighed six pounds, 13 ounces. This makes two little girls for: Jack and Sandra. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Evans, have as their guest, a nephew of; Hazel Dawn's, Barry Roth of Sarii Pablo, Calif. The young man ar-j rived on Sunday to spend the, remainder of the summer in Par-i agonah. Garth Robinson, who has beerii visiting in this area for two weeks, returned to Salt Lake City last week. He made the trip! with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jones. Mr. and Mrs. De Witt Jones and their small son were over-! night visitors to St. George last Friday. j Roger and Katherlne Smith and children of Salt Lake City, and Lee Robb who came from Yakima, Wash., were week-end visitors of .Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Robb. Mrs. Janet Jones and her three little girls of Salt Lake City are visiting here and in Pa rowan ro-wan with relatives. Mel will join them for the holiday week end.. |
