Show Kilowatt Kids Pound Out Imposing Lead TEAM STANDINGS Power 2 0 1.000 Parks l i .500 Construction l i .500 Arden 0 2 .000 After a single week of play In the second half of the Cedar City Pony League Southern Utah Power Pow-er has taken off to a one game lead in two one sided victories In their opening game of the second half Power won a 19 to 8 contest from Utah Construction, and then downed Arden Dairy almost al-most as convincingly in their second encounter12 to 6. Dennis Slack picked up the first victory for Power with a 10-hit 10-hit pitching performance. Power Pow-er took the early lead and then poured on the steam in the sixth inning with a seven run scoring spree that spelled the ei.d for Construction. Danny Lindsay was the loser. He gave up only nine hits, less than was collected by his squad in losing, but he also walked 11 men. Steve Cahoon' homered in the first inning tot start the scoring fr the victors. Cahoon was on the mound for the power win Monday evening over Arden. He allowed five hits and left 11 men standing at the plate. Robert Lee was the loser as he made his first appearance on the mound since he has been in the Pony League program. Cahoon belted out his second homer of the week against Arden Ar-den in the fourth inning of play with two men on bases. Utah Parks posted a 5 to 1 win over Arden Dairy in theii contest Friday evening with Jim' Nelson pitching up the win andl allowing only three hits. The sin- gle run for Arden came off the bat of Brent Cripps, who homered homer-ed over the center field fence in the third inning for his team's! only score. Robert Cuff was the losing pitcher, allowing four hits. Arden committed four errors. Utah Construction got hack into in-to a tie for second plae Tuesday Tues-day evening with a 12 to 6 win over Utah Parks. Kent Smith turned in a good performance in winning. He allowed three hits and collected 14 strikeouts In I seven innings of play, an average aver-age of two per inning. Bruce Stucki was the lor. He gave j up 11 hits and 12 walks. |
