Show I William Cooke Mitchell Clan Holds Reunion With approximately 125 members mem-bers of the family in attendance at the opening gathering, the William Cooke Mitchell II family fam-ily gathered last Friday evening In Provo Canyon with members of the clan coming from many parts of Utah, Colorado, Oregon, California, Arizona and Canada. Saturday the family gathered on the campus of Brigham Young University from where a tour to many places of interest was taken tak-en In Utah Valley. The climax of the reunion was a dinner at the Joseph Smith building on the BYU campus Saturday evening. At this time special .honor was paid to the only living children of William Cooke Mitchell II, J. Clayton Mitchell of Salt Lake City Ci-ty and Mrs. Nellie M. Mortensen, of Logan. At the close of the evening it was decided that next year's reunion re-union will be held in Parowan with Kent Mitchell acting as chairman of the event with hi father W. Scott Mitchell to be his assistant. Mr. and Mrs. Hal S. Mitchell were renamed as the genealogical chairmen with Wm. C. Smith of Provo as finance chairman of the committee. Attending the reunion from Parowan were Mr. and Mrs. J. Harold Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Hal S. Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. W. Scott Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Mortensen, Mrs. Huldah M. Hulet and her daughter Karla; and Mrs. Zella Whitney. Mrs. Benson Haycock and Mrs. Augusta Au-gusta Dalton who were visiting here from California also attended, attend-ed, along with Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Gardner and Mrs. Sylvia Jones of Cedar City. |
