Show Damaged Parts Result In TV Shutdown A series of unfortunate occur-ances occur-ances have forced the Iron County Coun-ty television committee to shut off the signal coming into Cedar City for a short period of time. However, Hae Hunter, chairman of the committee, indicated that the signal would be resumed later la-ter this week. Special equipment, ordered several sev-eral months ago, to convert the channel signal, was received recently re-cently by the committee and installation in-stallation of this equipment to insure a better signal in the Cedar Ce-dar City area had begun, when the first accident occurred. Equipment Goes That was when the transformer transform-er on the generating equipment at the transmitting site burned out. Immediately a telephone call was placed to California to replace the part. Early this week the new transformer was received; receiv-ed; however, it was found that the wrong part had been sent and another telephone order was placed early Monday. Te second replacement should be in Cedar City in time to make it possible for the signal to be resumed this week end, Hunter stated. When this Is completed two signals will be brought into the Cedar City area. They will be channel 5 and channel 2 from Salt Iike City and in the very near future the third signal from the Salt Lake area, channel 4, will be broadcast into the valley. On Different Channels With the installation of the channel converters to the signal being boosted into this area new channel assignments will be made. Channel 2 will be received on 8; 1 on 10 and 5 on 12. Actually Ac-tually the signal will be received on both channels in other words, channel 5 from Salt Lake I higher number ctannel 12. however, the boosted signal, the one which should give best reception re-ception In Cedar City, will he the higheer number channel 12. If all goes well, channels 2 and 3 from Salt Lake City will be I boosted into Cedar City Saturday fir Sunday, as soon as the reor-j reor-j dered equipment for the generat-i generat-i ing system can be replaced, i |
