Show Douglas Middleton Promoted To Mining Supervisor Promotion of Douglas W. Middleton Mid-dleton of Cedar City to supervisor of mining engineering for Columbia Co-lumbia Iron Mining Company, was announced today by John D. Quinn, mine engineer for the U. S. Steel operations near Cedar City. Mr. Middleton replaces Lester S. Heyborne who was recently appointed superintendent of mining min-ing for Columbia-Geneva Steel's Atlantic City Ore Mine now under un-der construction near Lander, Wyo. Born In Cedar City, Mr. Middleton Mid-dleton is a graduate of Cedar City High School and attended College of Southern Utah for two years. He completed his education educa-tion at the University of Utah, where he received a B. S. degree in mining engineering in 1958. Mr. Middleton began his U. S. Steel career in 1953 when he was employed as a rodman in Columbia Colum-bia Iron Mining's engineering department. de-partment. He advanced to Junior engineer before taking a leave of absence to complete his schooling, school-ing, returning In 1958 as a management man-agement trainee. A year later, he was named pit engineer, and in 1960, was appointed development develop-ment engineer for mining, the post he held prior to this latest promotion. He is a member of the American Ameri-can Institute of Mining, Metallurgical Metal-lurgical and Petroleum Engineers Engi-neers and Tau Beta Pi, honorary scholastic fraternity. Mr. Middleton and his wife, Shirley, reside at 138 South 200 East in Cedar City. They have two children. |
