Show PARAGOfJAH NEWS NOTES Hilma Lamoreaux All church meetings for Tues-day Tues-day were cancelled tn Paragonah this week on account of the many cast's of flu and other illnesses that are In town at present. School started again following the holiday vacation however. Jimmy Lamoreaux arrived home on Friday last for a week's leave with his folks, the Clark Lamoreaux fumiiy. He has been getting special schooling at the Chanutc Air Force Base in Illinois. Illi-nois. Mr.' and Mrs. Earl Topham, sons, Barry and Shane, and daughter, Cheryl Sue, all of Salt Lake City were holiday visitors here from Friday to Sunday. They visited with Karl's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Asa Topham and other family members. Mrs. Zoelia Benson of Cedar City was guest of honor at an interesting in-teresting holiday party at the 'Xiuglas Davenport home last week end. Mrs. Benson toured England and Wales last summer and she came to Paragonah to report her trip and show pictures of the places she visited. Especially Espe-cially Interesting to the relatives here were the pictures of Wales as some of the ancestors had come from there. Present at the party were Mr. and Mrs. Will Robb. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Thornton, Thorn-ton, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Prothero, Mrs. J. L. Dalton, Mis. Iras Jones and members of the D. A. Stones family. Mrs. Davenport served refreshments at the close of the -evening's activities. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Orlo 'Topham and Mrs. Eliza Norton traveled to Kanarravllle to visit with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Rose arrived here from Las Vegas Wednesday of last week for an overnight stay with Mrs. Stella : Edwards. After visiting with other relatives, they left for their ; home In Oklahoma City, Okla. Mr. and Mrs. Don Barton spent ' two days in Pangultch last week visiting with Edith's mother, Mrs. .John Miller. Mrs. Anna Ganung left here '.Thursday of last week for the 'first part of her return trip to Lansing. Michigan. She was accompanied ac-companied as far as Salt Lake City by her mother, Mrs. Hannah Robinson, who visited for a few days with the Norman Harris .-and Elwin Talbot families. Mr. Elwin Talbot and son. Cur- tls, came to Paragonah Saturday to spend the week end with the Renford Talbot family and brought Mrs. Hannah Robinson home. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Jones and daughter. Claudia, traveled to McGill, Nevada tor a week end visit with the Rodney Jones family. fa-mily. They returned here on New Year's day. . Mr. and Mrs. Paul Butterfield and their five children of Ogden visited here from Tuesday to Thursday of last week with Carol's Car-ol's mother, Mrs. Myrtle Abbott, week's holiday visit with her home on December 27th for a wee' ksholidiv visit with her people, the Alma -Topham family. fami-ly. She will be returning to her nurses training at Holy Cross Hospital this week. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Robb and their small son of Henderson, Nev., were here from Friday to Tuesday for a holiday visit with the Clark Robb family. Mr. and Mrs. Burgess Robinson of Salt Lake Citv were here for the week end. They have divided divi-ded their holldav vacation between be-tween the K. Doyle Robinson home here and the Lund home In Enfernrlse. Burgess' brother. Kay and his wife and children of Cedar City, Joined the family group here Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Burton and their two babies left for Lo- san Tuesday after spending the holiday season here with Laura's people. Mrs. Irene Robinson had an extra ex-tra special celebration for her birthday which came on Monday. She invited her parents and all of her sisters and brothers and their husbands and wives to spend the week end here with her and all but one were able to come. Those present included Mr. and Mrs. Arch Lamoreaux and Orval Lamoreaux of St George, Mr. and M.-k. Leland Lamoreaux and Mr. and Mrs. Orion Lamoreaux, Henderson, Nev.; Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Ashton and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Lamoareux and children, Larry and Mona Lou of Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Vern Kite of Hooper, Hoop-er, Utah. This group was Joined by Mrs. Robinson's children and grandchildren grand-children and Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Robinson for some of the week end activities. Mr and Mrs. Gerry Thornton of Ogden arrived hee Tuesday of last week for an overnight visit with Gerry's people, the Eurl Thorton family. Mr. and Mrs. JusUn Fairbanks ana children of Salt Lake City arrived here Friday to spend the week end with Beth'a folks, Mr. and Mrs. Orson Talbot The previous pre-vious day Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Mellor and their small son had come for the week end before going to Lincoln, Neb., where Lt. Mellor will report for his next assignment. Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Robb and their small son were down from Salt Lake City to spend the week end with relatives here and in Parowan. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lamoreaux and two boys were here from Ceda City Sunday to visit with relatives. The D. A. Stones home was the scene of a family gathering on New Year's Jay. Out of town members present included M. and Mrs. Mario Stones and fami-ily fami-ily and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Green and children, all of Cedar City. Mrs. Lois Blood and daughter, Carolyn of Cedar City were here one day last week for a holiday visit with Mrs. Bertha S. Topham. Mrs. Topham had just returned from spending Christmas in St George. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Walker and Mrs. Eda Thornton were here from Cedar City to spend New Year's day with the Earl Thornton Thorn-ton family. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Robinson, Mrs. Erma Lamoreaux and Mrs. Laura Burton and her children were ln Cedar City Saturday to Join a family gathering at the Bud Bauer home. The Clinton Robinson family of Richfield joined them. Mr. and Mrs. Orlo Topham and Mrs. Eliza Norton enjoyed having hav-ing family members visit them during the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hastings of Las Vegas were here for an overnight stay both for Christmas and for the New Year week end. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Norton came from Marysvale for both holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Jim McClary and family fami-ly of Dugway also visited here on Christmas day. Earlier In the month, Mrs. Top-ham's Top-ham's son, Jay stolk and family fami-ly of Ely, Nev. spent several days tvtth them here. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Robinson and Helen and Sadie Stones spent Saturday evening in Beaver Bea-ver visiting with relatives. |
