Show New City Officials Take Office in Brief Ceremonies A new mayor and two new city councilmen elected in November No-vember to serve four year terms of office for Cedar City Corporation, Corpora-tion, were sworn into office at ceremonies conducted at the City and County Building Tuesday noon. Sworn to office as Mayor for a four year term was Kumen Gardner, Democrat and two Democratic De-mocratic councilmen, Lowell Sherratt, Jr. and Roy P. Urie. Following the brief ceremony, conducted by outgoing Mayor Arnold Ar-nold Anderson, who has served two terms as Mayor of Cedar City, Ci-ty, a brief council meeting wa ; held. In attendance were also the three holdover councilmen who have two years remaining on their elective terms: Norman Heaton, Sam Gentry, Republicans and Frank Petty, Democrat. At the abbreviated meeting J. Harlan Burns was named as city attorney replacing Patrick H. ' Fenton and $65,000 in bonds were approved with First Security Securi-ty Bank on revenue anticipation over the next six month period. Also approved at the meeting was the acceptance of the firm of Olsen and Squires to conduct the 1961 audit of the city books. Mayor Gardner also made tentative ten-tative assignments of council- men to departments of the city for the purpose of operation until un-til such time that a city manager can be appointed. The Mayor expressed ex-pressed the opinion that a city manner will have to be appointed. appoint-ed. Tabled for further consideration considera-tion at Thursday evening's regular regu-lar meeting was specific assignments assign-ments to departments. The Mayor, May-or, however, announced a tentative tenta-tive assignments as follows: Streets and sidewalks: Councilman Coun-cilman Urie; Water and Sewage, Councilman Gentry; Parks and Public Property, Councilman Petty; Pet-ty; Engineering, Councilman Heaton; Administration, Council- man Sherratt; Public Safety, ' Mayor Gardner.
