Show 1 Parowan Rams Take Two Game Loss In Week End Battles The Parowan High School basketball bas-ketball team will begin ieague play this week end along with i most of the other high school squads in the state. And the I Parowan team will probably face its hardest game of the entire season in the opener, which is against the big Milford team on the Milford floor. I Coach Ivan Rowley of the Ti-jgers Ti-jgers is fielding a team again this year with pletity of size and an impressive pre-season record. I On the other hand Coach John Wood's Ram squad is lacking in I both size and experience. In the last series of practice games which has resulted in wins for their opponents, Coach Wood has three and sometimes four Juniors Jun-iors and gone most of the way with the younger crew. He states that practice sessions of this week will determine hU aiarters 'n the Friday night opener at Milford. In the other opening game in the Millard Division of Region Ten Beaver goes against Delta at Delta with the latter team having hav-ing a more impressive pre-season re-ord and with the home floor advantage will be favored to win this one. The Rams dropped their final practice game last Friday and Saturday, a 47 to 41 decision to Basic High of Henderson, Nev., then a 52 to 29 loss to the Dixie Flyers at St. George. Farowan tuuk liie lead over the Basic team in the first few minutes min-utes of Friday's game and led 9 to 8 at the end of the first quarter. Basic took the lead, 19 to 18, at the half time rest and were ahead 31 to 29 as the third quarter ended. This lead was lengthened early in the final period per-iod and they went into a stall to control the ball for the final four minutes of the hectic game. The Rams ou scored the visitors 19 to 17 goals from the field but made good on only three of 11 tries from the foul line while Basic got 13 out of 18 tries, with a large percentage of them coming com-ing in the final quarter on the 'stall tactics. |
