Show City Council Holds Final Meeting for '61 In the final session of the Cedar Ce-dar City Council and the final meeting for Mayor Arnold Anderson An-derson and two councilmen, Neal Carter and Eldon Schmutz, terms of office have expired, a series of minor actions were passed pass-ed and a budget for operation of the first six months of 1962 was approved. A breakdown of the budget appropriations is found in a separate sep-arate story. Other action Included the authorization au-thorization of the Installation of a new street light at the intersection intersec-tion of Hamilton Avenue (1000 West) and 200 North Street; a discussion of insurance claims; a review of preliminary plans for the Cedar City municipal park and cemetery, and hearing a request re-quest for a change In the city ordinances controlling the Cedar City volunteer fire department. Council reviewed with representatives repre-sentatives of the insurance company com-pany the handling and disposition disposi-tion of minor claims that have arisen recently, Mayor Anderson stated. Manager of the Insurance company and an adjuster were on hand to discuss the disposition disposi-tion and action on minor claims. Preliminary plans were pre sented to the council for consideration consid-eration of proposed Improvement programs at the Cedar City park and cemetery. Dale Despain, city planner, presented the plans for consideration. No action was taken; tak-en; however, the plans were turned over to the City Planning Commission for consideration and recommendations before adoption. Two members of the Cedar City Ci-ty Volunteer Fire Department, I Marlon Bratton and Bill Hills, met with the council to request changes In the city ordinance concerning the fire department. Request was made that the ordinance ordi-nance be changed to Include the appointment of both a fire chief and an assistant fire chief with restriction that only one of the two appointments be employed within the city limiU. They also requested that the ordinance be changed regarding actions concerning con-cerning release of members of the department Other matters concerning the fire department were expressed and although no action was taken tak-en It was agreed that the city attorney should draw up changes In the ordinance as Indicated for further study and consideration. |
