Show 1962 Business Preview Conference Will Study Trends Throughout State "Utah Business Preview of 1962," will be presented at the College of Southern Utah auditorium audi-torium Thurs., evening, Jan. 1L it was announced this week by A. W. Stephenson, chairman, business and social science department, de-partment, CSU. The conference Is scheduled from 7:30 to 9:30 p. m. The annual preview of business busi-ness trends throughout the state of Utah is sponsored by the College Col-lege of Business, University of Utah, and the Salt Lake Tribune. Cooperating groups include the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce, Com-merce, the Co'lege of Southern Utah, U. of U. Alumni Association Associa-tion and U. of U. Extension division. div-ision. ' This year's program, the second sec-ond annual presentation of the review, will feature a panel discussion dis-cussion with Prof. Stephenson as moderatof. Members of the panel will Include Royden G. Derrick, president, Western Steel Co. and Dr. Osmond L. Harllne, Associate Professor of Economics and director, dir-ector, Bureau of Economics and Business Research at the University Univer-sity of Utah. In addition to the panel presentation pre-sentation a "Forecast of Business Intermountaln Area and the Nation for 1962," will be presented present-ed by Professor Douglas N. Thompson, assistant Professor of Economics, U. of U. Mr. Derrick, in addition to his capacity as president of Western Steel, is also president of the Utah Manufacturers Association and Chairman of the Board of Regents, U. of U. Items listed on the agenda for discussion by ihe panel include the following: Will the current U. S. business busi-ness expansion be short lived? Does the recent rise in consumer con-sumer prices to new highs foreshadow fore-shadow more Inflation? What can be done about the hard core unemployment areas which remain In spite of general business Improvements? What is the future of non-defense non-defense oriented Utah Industry? What do the recent dynamic developments in the metal markets mar-kets mean for Utah's important mining industry? The forecast is open to the public and is admission free. Also, as an important feature of the conference there will be a display of charts on Utah Business Busi-ness prepared by the Bureau of Economics and Business Research. |
