Show Local Auto Dealer Announces Car Family Addition Lunt Motor Company announced announc-ed today that it has been appointed ap-pointed as SIMCA dealer for southern Utah. This new line of cars will not replace any of the Chrysler Corp. cars handled at Lunts, but will be an added line to Hjj the growing need for a compacts -economical car suitable suita-ble for a small family or as a second car. The SIMCA is made In France by that country's second largest automobile producer. It is built In one of the most modern plants In the world by men noted for their fine workmanship. The company produces two distinct models, including the Aronde, a compact four cylinder sedan, with four doors and a cruising speed of 60 to 70 miles per hour. They also build the Vedette, a six passenger sedan with a V-8 engine and the room equlvalant to a small American sedan. The Aronde is built for stamina stam-ina and proof that It has this is its collection of 38 FIA International Interna-tional records, the longest of them for 100,000 kilometers or 62,138 miles at an average speed of 64.7 miles per hour. This distance dis-tance represents two complete trips around the world and Is equivalent to five years of average aver-age driving. The Aronde that established es-tablished these records was built by the same methods, men and materials as the cars that can be purchased from any SIMCA dealer. Registration within the U. S. of foreign cars has been steadily steadi-ly on the increase and the smaU economical foreign products are becoming more and more popular. popu-lar. In li54 a total of 25,385 foreign for-eign cars were registered in the U. S. In 1955 registration had doubled with a total of 51.658. In 1956 totals Jumped to 91,042 and estimates for 1957 indicate a registration of 150,000. SIMCA of America has faith in this growing market They have spent millions setting up parts depots and distributors. To date the only thing slowing them up is lack of shipping space and its improvements. Present dellv-ery dellv-ery dates on orders for Simca can be made in approximately three weeks, Lunt Indicated. In addition to taking over the dealership for Simca, Lunts will also handle a complete service department for the foreign made cars. The cars are sold coast to coast and each state has a number num-ber of authorized dealers capable of servicing this Imported model. Lunt Motor is one of six such dealers In Utah. Griff Bargeron, who tests cars cars for a nationally known automotive au-tomotive magazine, has this to say about Simca, "just now successfully suc-cessfully this car will be able to compete In the U.S. with the established es-tablished English light cars and the firmly entrenched VW remains re-mains to be seen, but if sheer honest virtue is a factor it sou Id really storm." Mr. Lunt stated that "the only people who will like Simcas will be John Q. Public." The reason for this, he explained, is the many economic values of the automobile such as low gas consumption, con-sumption, mechanical efficiency, reclining seats and -the many, many other features that make this car a top value.
