Show Iron County Fair Plans Near Completion Final preparations are being rushed in anticipation of the opening of this year's Iron County Coun-ty fair at noon on Saturday, Aug. 31, according to D. Amasa Stones, chairman of this year's event. The fair exhibits will open at noon on Aug. 31 with all exhibits to be housed in the spacious gymnasium at the Parowan High School, and committees are now busy preparing display racks, shelves and trays to receive the various exhibits. Time for bringing various exhibits ex-hibits to the exhibit room have been announced as follows by those In charge. All 4-H exhibitors exhi-bitors from Cedar City and the west end of the county are to bring their exhibits to the Exten-sion Exten-sion office in Cedar City before noon'on Thursday, Aug. 28, or at the exhibit hall no later than Friday, Aug. 30, the day before the fair opens. 4-H entries from the Parowan, summit, Enoch and Paragonah area will be received at the exhibit hall on Thursday and up to 9 a. m. on Friday, Aug. 30. Vegetables and crops In the . 4- H department are to be in no later than 10 a. m. Saturday at the exhibit room. Exhibits In the general farm, garden and fruit crops division must be In by 9 a. m. of the opening day of the fair, with the judging to commence at 10 a. m. It is planned to have the Judging completed and all ribbons in place when the exhibits open for viewing. Homemaking Exhibits In the homemaking departments, depart-ments, exhibitors are asked to bring all exhibits to the exhibit hall between the hours of 9 a. m. and noon on Friday, Aug. 30. Judging will commence at 1 p. m. that day and doors will be closed during the judging. Exhibits to be entered In the Flower Show division of the fair are to be entered and arranged between 9 and 11 a. m. on Saturday, Sat-urday, opening day of the fair. Exhibitors must furnish contain-ers contain-ers and are to be arranged by the exhibitor. Entries in the arts, crafts and hobbies department are to be entered en-tered at the exhibit room on Friday, Fri-day, Aug. 31 and up to 10 a. m. Saturday, Aug. 31. With all exhibits entered and day of the fair, the big event will officially be opened at that time, we understand. The exhibits exhi-bits will remain open until late that evening. They will be open for viewing on Sunday from 3:30 to 9 p. in. and all day Monday up to 6 p. m. at which time they are to be taken away. Every person per-son in the county Is Invited and urged to enter exhibits In the various departments of the fair and to visit the fair during the three days. In the way of special entertainment, enter-tainment, the fair committee and the Red Hill Wranglers entered into an agreement Tuesday evening eve-ning whereby the horsemen's or-ganization or-ganization will provide two afternoons af-ternoons of racing, rodeo and riding events, the first one on Saturday and the second on Monday, Mon-day, with the programs to start at 2:30 p. m. at the city race track. Afternoon Racing These programs are to include five races each afternoon, and in addition there will be an amateur ama-teur rodeo program which will include bronc and wild steer riding, roping, and other equestrian eques-trian games put on by the members mem-bers of the horsemen's group. Monday, Labor Day, and final day of the fair, will be highlighted highlight-ed by the big parade on Paro-wan's Paro-wan's Main Street starting at 10 a. m. Plans are being laid ti make this event bigger and better bet-ter than last year's with industries, indus-tries, business, civic and church groups being urged to enter floats, in the general division to compete for large cash awards Likewise the boys' and girls' clubs and groups of the area are urged to compete with floats in the Junior division where substantial sub-stantial cash awards will be given giv-en to winners. There will also be a humorous division in the parade. pa-rade. Other events will Include the coronation ball on Friday evening eve-ning in the CSU fleldhouse in Cedar City where Miss Iron Coun-ty Coun-ty will be chosen and crowned.
