Show Easily EiraGiriies Dircdlnca&e Oofl&s&airaciliiffu-G) Affu-mHmal Ukfesftoek Show With the deadline for entering animals in the 17th annual Southern Utah Livestock Show drawing near, entries en-tries are coming in at a rapid pace, Neil K. Bpyter, show secretary, reports. The show will open on Thursday, Sept. 5 and continue through Saturday, Sept. 7. Entries must be in the hands of the secretary by Sept. 1, and animals be on the exhibit grounds by 9 a. m. Sept. 5. However, the show management urges all exhibitors to have their animals ani-mals on the ground the day before the show. Mr. Boyter states that entries are coming in earlier than usual and in greater numbers, Indicating that the total number of animals to hei exhibited will exceed that of any previous year. The t-iow will again be held at the Iron Bowl race track sheds, where It was held for the first time last year, and committee workers are busy putting the area and pens in shape for the big event. Plans are going forward to build a new show pavilion for next year's show, but this will have no bearing on preparations for the 1957 event. An agreement between the show association and the city administration for use of city land for the show pavilion and other developments, has been worked out and will undoubtedly be signed at the next regular meeting of the city council, to be held on Wednesday Sept. 5. A contract for construction construc-tion of the pavilion and Improvements Improve-ments of the grounds will be awarded as Boon as the agree ment is signed, show officials state. As in the past, Judging of all stock exhibited, including fat lambs, steers and hogs, and all breeding stock, will be held on the opening day of the show. The second day will be devoted to the annual ram sale, which has long been an important feature fea-ture of the show. The highlight of the whole show, of course, is the annual auction of fat stock, to be held on the final day. Bill Adams, who has acted as auctioneer for many years, will again be on hand and will handle the auctioning of all fat stock. Earl Smith, Cedar Ce-dar City auctioneer, will handle the breeding stock sales. ' All Indications point to an excellent ex-cellent show, perhaps the biggest big-gest and best in the history of the event. |
