Show Archery Hunt Launches Utah's Deer Season The archery hunt, first of Utah's 1957 deer seasons, gets under way Saturday, Aug. 31. and continues through Sept. 15, the department of fish and game reminded today. Any holder of a 1957 big game license may purchase an arche.-y permit which entitles the holder to harvest a deer of either sex during the 16 day season. The entire state, except the Bingham Canyon closed area, is open to bow and arrow shooting only during this period. The department stated that It was illegal for archery permit holders to carry firearms of any kind while afield during the hunt and also listed the follow. Ing information covering the season. sea-son. Red headgear must be worn at all times while hunting. it is illegal to carry a strung bow in or on a vehicle. Archery permits may be purchased pur-chased only at department offices, of-fices, 1596 West North Temple, Salt Lake City, either by mailed or personal application. Theyi will continue on sale at these offices until the hunt is ended. I Applications must include full name, address, big game license number and $3 fee. Minimum regulations listed In the deer proclamation covering bow and arrow equipment must be observed by all hunters. The archery tags are not considered con-sidered as a special permit and therefore do not restrict the holder hold-er from obtaining two special deer peimits for the other 1957 seasons. The department further noted that all regulations for the bow and arrow season are In agreement agree-ment with the organized archers of the state. Both the department and the organized archers again reminded remind-ed all bow and arrow hunters to observe the governing regulations for the hunt as listed In the proc-. lamations; to obtain permission I before hunting on private land, and to be especially careful not to disturb livestock on the open ranges over the state.
