Show "Neal and Olies Market" Opening Set Ncal Carter and Fallas Olofson, ! Cedar City grocery men, complet-! ed a business transaction early this week, under which they have purchased the Peoples Market on the corner of Center and First West streets, and arranged to operate op-erate the grocery store and meat market under a partnership. i Under the deal the two men have purchased all merchandise of the firm and leased the building build-ing and equipment from Mrs. J. David Leigh, who has operated the store as the People's Market for about 11 years. The store was closed to business busi-ness Saturday, and this week is being completely redecorated and rearranged in preparation for a grand opening under the name of Neal and Olie's Market, on Saturday, April 4. The new managers announce that they will observe the usual "main street" business Irnirs, opening at 8:30 a. m. and closing at H:30 p. m. each day. Both have had long experience in the grocery and moat business, busi-ness, and both have been in Ce- ' dar City for a long period of ' .time. I Mr. Olofson has been head i meat cutter in the Safeway store in Cedar City since 1034, except . ifor a three year period spent in military service, two years of ' which was spent in the Furo-ipean Furo-ipean theatre of action. He began !his meat cutting training in Lo gan one year before coming to Cedar City. Mr. Carter started in the giu-cery giu-cery business in 19X, as an employee em-ployee at the Grand Central Market in 1935. He remained there until entering the Navy during World War II, most of which time was spent in the Pacific Pa-cific theatre of action. At the end of military service he came to Cedar City as a Safeway employee. em-ployee. After two years he purchased pur-chased Bill's Grocery and has operated that store since. In the new firm Mr. Carter will be in charge of the grocery department and Mr. Olofson In charge of the meat department. At the present time Barlow White will assist in the grocery department and at the cash counter, and Mrs. Corry Olson will serve as cashier. Mr. Carter will retain his interest in-terest in Hill's Grocery, which will be operated by his brother. Ward Carter, who has been associated as-sociated with him in the business busi-ness for the past two years. |
