Show Homer S. Rice Killed In Korean Battle on March 25 Albert Rice, Cedar City Indian, was notified by the War Department Depart-ment this morning that his stop-son, stop-son, Cpl. Homer Snyder Rice, had been killed in action with the armed forces in Korea on March 25. The young man had been serving with in infantry unit in Korea since late 1952, it is understood. un-derstood. No detailed information about his death was given in the telegram received by Rice. Homer, who was a son of Julia John Rice, by a former marriage, was well known in Cedar City, and had always been known as Homer Rice. He was born in Cedar Ce-dar City on July 9, 1934. He volunteered for service with the army in March, 1951. He was home on leave during September, 1952, after whirh he reported at an embarkation point and sailed for overseas duty. He is survived by his stepfather step-father and mother, and by two half-brothers and two half sisters: sis-ters: Jackie Jack, New Mexico; Jessie, Cedar City; Jackie Tom, Cedar City, and Marcella, Phoenix, Phoe-nix, Ariz. Mr. Rice resides in Cedar City and is employed at the Schmitt Implement company. Mrs. Rice, who is well known here, is not residing here at the present time, and has not yet been informed of her son's death. |
