Show Member of Guard Unit Arrives In Cedar From Korea Cpl. Cal Bates, who has been with the 213th Armored Field Artillery battalion in Korea since February returned to Cedar City Monday, after having been released from further military duty. Cpl. Bates left Korea on Aug. 2, and returned to the states by air, landing at Seattle, and was separated from service at Fort Lawton, in Seattle. He has been attached to Headquarters Head-quarters Battery of the battalion, battal-ion, the Cedar City Battery of the Utah National Guard, and had been assigned to Information Informa-tion and Education responsibilities responsibili-ties with the unit. Upon his arrival home, Bates reported that the members of Headquarters Battery were feeling feel-ing fine when he left and that they were in high spirits. They sent greetings with him to their folks at home. He also reports that while at Fort Lawton he met Broze Bulloch, who was originally ori-ginally with Headquarters Battery, Bat-tery, but had been retained for medical treatment. Bulloch is still uncertain as to his future assignment. Bakes reports. Cpl. Bates had been a member mem-ber of the National Guard unit for about a year prior to its Federalization, Fed-eralization, and had trained with them at Fort Lewis, Wash., and j embarked for Korea with the unit j in January. His wife and two children have been residing in Cedar City while was was over-I over-I seas. |
