Show Construction Bids Due! To Erect Steam Plant in Cedar Canyon Bids fur construction work on the Southern Utah Power company com-pany steam plant in Cedar canyon can-yon were due to be turned in to the company yesterday, and a decision should be reached this week end, according to R. R. Thomas, vice president and general gen-eral manager of the company. Excavation work for the new building is expected to get started start-ed next week. Henry Davis, construction con-struction engineer for Stone and Webster Service Corporation of Boston, is in Cedar City to supervise super-vise the building of the 5,000 KW steam plant. It will adjoin the present building now located in the canyon. Plans call for the new plant to be in operation by May 1, 1952. The new plant will give the power pow-er company a total steam plant output of 7500 KW, compared to 2500 at the present time. Total output of the company at the diesel plant west of town was increased to 6100 KW earlier in the year with the addition of two 10(H) KW diesel units. |
