Show MARVELOUS CHANGES HAVE TAKEN PLACE IN BENSON I SINCE LOG CABIN DAYS By W. G. REESE " BENSON How marvelous are the changes that have been made in Benson since 1871 when y : not to make additions to our meeting house; but sometimes the need for room Is apparent. However How-ever it is better to be somewhat crowded for room occasionally than to be financially distressed. The wisdom of the bishopric in this respect is clearly apparent. Never, in the history of Benson, has there been a more united fraternal frat-ernal feeling existing in the ward than has been manifested during the year just drawing to a close. There have been seven births and nine marriages in Benson this year. The young people of Benson, under the supervision of Willard ueorge x nomas. Charles Reese. David Reese and Joseph Thatcher, (. J. Clark and Joel Ricks filed on a quarter section sec-tion each and moved into the log cabins which they had erected during the win- Saunders, have put on several amusing plays in the past few months and are preparing to continue con-tinue furnishing other plays. W. G. Reese of 1870 . and The main object of those who settled in this locality was to lay a foundation upon which their descendants might have an opportunity oppor-tunity to "live and grow and flourish." The many industrious, public spirited people who have moved into the ward, and the many that have been bom nnH have grown up here make a population po-pulation beyond the expectation of most of us. "Give us room that we may dwell." however is not applicable ap-plicable yet and many years may elapse before it may be. During the past year there have ! been seven new homes built and I several others improved. Those who have built new homes are Melvin Ballard. Roy Ballard, J. I,. jNeiley, George Thain, Alton Hoffman, Hoff-man, J. C. Parson and Vernal Munk. Several others have remodeled re-modeled their homes. Considerable attention has been given to the cultivation of flowers, planting trees and improving the appearance appear-ance of and around their homes. Never in the history of Benson has there been a more active public pub-lic spirit than there has been j during the year Just drawing to a close.
