Mr. Johnson brought! his home when he returned from ! his mission. I Twenty-five members of the L. ' D. S. church of Linton, Indiana S spent ten days here while theyj were doing temple work. Theyi came in a bus specially chartered for the trip. They enjoyed their visit very much and expressed a desire to live here. By MRS. 1IARVARD HANSEN COLLEGE WARD In reviewing the events of the past year in our thriving little community we find that several Nelsen, Elmer Bindrup, Florence Olsen, Mr. and Mis. Ernest Olsen, Delbert Olsen and Warren Hansen. The enterprising farmers here undaunted by the drought, dug wells to water their lands. About fifteen new wells were dug this year. About three weeks before the end of the school year, the College Ward school building was condemned con-demned as unsafe due to the re- r ; i ;hanges have tak- en place. Al-I Al-I though only one new home has been built this year several oth-! oth-! crs have had im- provements add- ed. The new I home belongs to I Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Ward and I cent earthquake and school was j closed. Since that time the child-;ren child-;ren have been transported by bus jto Wellsville. During the summer I arrangements were made to build ! a new school house which we hope is a very attrac-MrS. attrac-MrS. H. Hansen tive addition to our ward. We have had two missionaries return. Brigham Olsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Olsen returned re-turned home this summer after having completed a mission in Norway. Peter Johnson, left in February for a short mission to the Northern States Mission and to have for the next year. Five new bridges have been made and one road has been graveled during the year as FERA projects. Having completed sixteen years of faithful service as president of the Elders quorum, Orville Nelson and his counselors were released. Milford Jenson was appointed president pres-ident with Ray Jensen and Ted Zillis as his counselors. The Elders completed a successful success-ful year with a huge sparrow and magpie hunt. 114 magpies and over 1900 sparrows were killed. The Mutual Improvement Association Asso-ciation was reorganized with Violet Vio-let Olsen and Harvey Olsen as presidents. The outgoing presidents presi-dents were Leah Olsen and Andrew An-drew Nelson. The farmers here have lost a large number of horses from the brain fever epidemic. Three new tractors were purchased In preference pre-ference to horses by some of those suffering losses. Although a number of used cars were purchased only two new can were bought this year. Orville Or-ville Nelson Is the owner of one returned home in September. Those entering the matrimonial sphere were Don Olsen, Erma Schenk, Ezra Zollinger, Helen Speth, June Olsen, Bertha Zollinger Zoll-inger and Sylvan Olsen. The population has been increased in-creased by the birth of nineteen babies. Eleven boys and eight girls. We have five people who are holding board offices. Ernest Olsen Ol-sen was put in counselor of the Sunday School and Orville Nelson was advanced to superintendant of the Sunday School this year. Among those attending the World's Fair In Chicago this year were Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Nelsen, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Johnson, Dwain Johnson, Merrill Hansen, Orville |
