Show CLARKSTON CITIZENS HAVE CONSIDERABLE TO BE THANKFUL FOR IN 1934 - a By MRS. MATTIE GOODEY Carkston That 1934 has been a happy and prosperous year to the people of Clarkston is the unanimous un-animous opinion of the 714 people that live here. In the past year, we have enjoyed privileges that have never been ours before. On May. 19 this year 8,000 people came to visit the grave of Martin Harris. That day being set apart as Aaronic priesthood day and held in honor of the 151st anniversary of Martin Harris. Members of the Presiding bishopric were present. Bishop Sylvester Q. Cannon, presiding. Elders day, held April 28, was a great success. This being the third year that the elders quorum of the Mormon r.Inireh has snonsored a stake and Mothers and daughters day and all national holidays. 1934 has been a year of unusual unus-ual wedding anniversaries: Mr. and Mrs. Peter S. Barson, celebrated cele-brated their 65 wedding anniversary anniver-sary at their home. Their 7 children chil-dren and 49 grand children were present on October 20. Mr. and Mrs. James B. Jardine and Mr. and Mrs. John P. Clark, celebrated their double golden wedding. This party yas held in the tabernacle on September 17. Mr. and Mrs. Jardine have 9 children, Mr. and Mrs. Clark 11. These-' children with their respective families were present and many invited guests. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shumway celebrated their sixty-first anni-, versary with a family party at their home and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Clark entertained with a family party on their wedding day. Mr. and Mrs. George Myler and family, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Tar-dine Tar-dine and family met for the 29th ward celebration. I Other days on which the ward has celebrated was March 17, The Relief Society as hostess. Old Folks day, both in the ward and house that makes it one of the prettiest in Cache county. This work was done by donation by the parents and children. The cooperation cooper-ation of the school pupils has been a decided help. A stoker has been installed in our tabernacle. Two of our greatest needs are a new amusement hall and another school bus to help transport the 59 school students to North Cache. We have two garages and two stores owned by local men. Baseball and basket ball always furnish amusement and are well supported by our people. Our dairy cows are some of the finest in the county, three truck loads of milk leave Clarkston each day. Summing up the past year we feel that, we have a right to be happy and to meet 1935 with a smile. wedding day celebration. They were married at the same time. While eight couples of young people embarked on the sea of matrimony. There has been 19 babies born 11 boys and 8 girls. Death claimed two of our pioneer's, pio-neer's, Thomas Godfrey and John Buttars who had been witnesses to the testimony of Martin Harris. Har-ris. Wm. J. Griffiths and Bessie Griffin, Many homes have been Improved by remodeling and repainting, yards given better care until we believe we have the best town in Cache county. We are very grateful for the good roads we have in our town about two-thirds of which have been built by donation, and for the exceptional water supply we have in our homes.
