Show V Working T ools for Prospecting and for the Development of Uranium Mines PROBING UNDERGROUND THE The 600-- B Counter is VALUES One of the outstanding developments in Uranium prospecting and development on the Colorado Plateau is the deep hole probe used in Gamma Ray logging of underground formations. This is ordinarily done in conjunction with percussive type drilling. Hole logging service is available in conjunction with contract drilling from the Minerals Engineering Company of Grand Junction, or complete logging service alone is available through the electronics division of the same company at a minimum cost. COUNTER 600-- B FOR Lvljrv'; t f : r; n- - X I 4 hWmJ LARGE WAGON DRILL 500 CFM COMPRESSOR The picture shows the largest wagon drill used on the Colorado Plateau. As uranium development progresses larger and more eificient drills are constantly being developed. This drill is equipped with a 500 CFM Gardner-Denvdual pressure compressor, Fishej Valve System and D99D Drill. Mounted on an IHC Quad Drive truck this unit drills a 2.W to 3 hole 300 to 350 feet in favorable ground at a speed of about 1 per minutx. The compressor produces up to 100 pounds air pressure for the hammer and 200 pounds for blowing purpose. erf rugged design yet weighs only 8V pounds. The large built-i- n speaker, electronic tubes, transformer and other delicate parts are well protected against both dampness and shock. It is ideal for surface prospecting and when equipped with probe extension ore zones in completed drill holes may be accurately detected and evaluated. er 0 Drill steel, tools and bits are all special construction. Electronic Probe The Popular The electronic probe is made up of a thin wall brass tube in which is contained an electronic vacuum tube which intercepts Gamma Rays and transmits electronic impulses through the probe cable to the Geiger Counter circuit. Probe chamber is water and moisture proof and w'ith reasonable care will give long service. Electronic tube can be replaced. Size Price of Probe $75.00. Electronic Cable Cord 15 cents to 25 cents per foot. SCINTILLATOR The new 111-- B Scintillator has many new plus features including a large Percent Meter, a crystal with twice the sensitivity of the previous model, three time constants, and a saddle grain cowhide carrying case and shoulder strap. Price with case, only $495.00. lxl4. New Improved Model No. 11 IB The Probe Master Reel has been especially developed by Minerals Engineering Company for taking gamma ray logs of deep drill holes. It is built on a sturdy steel frame, which can ba folded into a compact unit to be carried in a car or jeep for storage purposes. The reel has a capacity of 2,000 ft. electronic cable and a patent unit i pending electronic pick-u- p built into the hub of the reel, so that continuous electronic impulses are transferred to the Geiger Counter for accurate reading at all times. Lathe Room of Grand Junction Bit Tool Co. 8C Lathe Room and Machine Shop (below) operated by Junction Bit and Tool Company. Here drill and oil W'ell steel is processed, hardened and threaded, core barrel parts and Tungsten Carbide Bits are turned out, wagon and diamond drill parts are fabricated and many types of mining machines are especially built to aid in uranium production. In addition to processing new steel, the Junction Bit & Tool Co. Machine Shop does a great deal of custom repair work for mine, mill and oil well operators throughout the area. ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT SERVICE Engineering Co. has been officially appointed as Factory Franchise Service Headquarters for all types of Precision Radiation Instruments in the Colorado Plateau area. See our new sales room in Room No. 102 Uranium Center Building, 5th Minerals , and Rood in Grand Junction. I - t .. j l Z ftr u x y ' & - v? TUNGSTEN TEMPERED THROW AWAY BITS Tungsten Tempered 'Throwaway type bits are processed by the Junction Bit and Tool Co. to give miners a throw-awa- y type bit which gives maximum footage at lowest possible cost. They are prepared by grooving away the steel cutting edges on regular steel bit shanks and rebuilding them with an alloy of 60 per cent tungsten and 40 per cent hard binding base metal. Bits are available in either Portland or Liddicoat cutting design and are furnished in any standard thread. Price only $1.50 each. MINERALS ENGINEERING CO.
