Show irnmuMiW'-j'- i Uranium Bug infects 1,441 in Wyoming The shales, limestones and sandstones of southwestern Wyoming are not exempt from the jeep, Geiger counter and pick of the uranium hunter. In Sweetwater county alone, where there is as yet no commercial production of uranium, a total of 1441 location notices were filed in the county seat at Green River, during 1954. Search for the uranium has spread to all corners of this county one of the largest in area in the United States although the greater portion of the locations are in the eastern half. In the area north of Wamsutter, 40 miles west of Rawlins, Wyo., prospectors have moved southward from Hills uranium the Crooks Gap-Ga- s fields of central Wyoming. But claims have been posted southward clear into Colorado and into Daggett County, Utah. One set of claims was filed upon just south of the Green River city limits. One Green River group, the Cokeriver company, reportedly is shipping from Crooks Gap in Fremont county. One sale of property south of Rock Springs has been reported. But locations keep piling up. South of Green River, in Daggett county, Utah, the Clay Basin area, a gas producer, is the scene of almost frenzied prospecting, while much of the northeastern por tion of the Uintah mountains is heavily prospected. Much of the prospecting, though, is by inexperienced people relying upon the Geiger counters to indicate radium HES ON!
