Show Volunteers and contributors honored J United Way of Davis Co. reaps $732,526 J M ' United Way " The United Way of Davis County announced the final results of its 199091 campaign at a recognition luncheon to honor volunteers and contributors. Alton Evans, manager of General Electric Service Shop, North Salt Lake and the volunteer vice chairman, chair-man, announced the final results at $732,526. The community campaign cam-paign produced $690,273 with $12,853 coming from the combined federal campaign and $8,900 coming com-ing from the state charitable fund drive. Another $20,500 came from other United Way campaign community com-munity designations. Herb Grounds, campaign chairman, chair-man, was excused from the event. He was out of state on business. Evans applauded the efforts of hundreds of volunteers, the 25 members of the campaign committee, com-mittee, 34 loaned executives, and more than 8,000 contributors. Serving Serv-ing on the campaign cabinet were Steve Aller, marketing chair, J.C. Penney Co.; Randy Stevenson, Lagoon Corp.; Jeff Utley, Flying J Refinery; Steve Smith, Utility Trailer and Mel Miles, Davis School District. Jim Bruff, of Bruff and Associates, Dale Carnegie Institute, In-stitute, was the training director. Major Contributor Awards were presented to the following companies com-panies contributing more than $10,000 in employee and corporate pledges: Albertsons Distribution Center ($32,869), AU American Gourmet ($29,833), Allied After-market After-market ($24,513), Borden, IncClover Club Foods ($14,025), Chevon USA ($45,525), Computer Science Corp. ($11,275), Clearfield Job Corps ($15,183), Davis School District ($54,006), Eaton-Kenway ($32,23 1 ), General Dynamics ($15,000), Hercules ($27,316), J.C. Penney Telemarketing ($22,323); Mountain Fuel Supply, Layton ($13,148), Phillips 66 ($12,552), Smiths Food & Drug Center Inc. ($28,072), Thiokol ($22,991), Utility Utili-ty Trailer ($14,456). Gold Awards were presented to 91 companies having 50 percent employee participation. A special campaign Excellence Award was presented to 45 companies com-panies having a 25 percent increase over the previous year. The campaign produced pro-duced $732,526. Special framed certificates were presented to the 34 part-time loaned executives who worked with major companies on their campaigns. A.B. Simmons, United Way immediate im-mediate past president and area manager, First Interstate Bank, presented Al Evans with a Gold Award Certificate. Simmons also presented a special bouquet of flowers to Mary Kroeger, recently returned from four months' active duty in the Persian Per-sian Gulf War. She is a first lieutenant lieute-nant staff nurse with the 328th Army Hospital Unit. She is the manager of Community Nursing ServiceHospice office in Clearfield, Clear-field, a United Way Agency. John Hamilton, director of the American Red Cross, Lake Bonneville Bonne-ville Chapter, reported on the assistance rendered by them and other agencies to individuals and families involved in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Evans expressed appreciation to everyone for their team effort in raising the largest amount in Davis County's history. A special video produced for United Way by U.S. WEST Communications Com-munications was shown at the conclusion con-clusion of the program. |
