Show UCSE celebrate with ribbons Gov. Norman H. Bangerter declared that April 29 through May 4 is "Utah Classified School Employees Week." The Utah School Employees Association is a 6,000 member organization which represents Utah's school bus drivers, custodians, custo-dians, secretaries, lunch workers, teaching assistants, instructional assistants, special education assistants, warehouse and maintenance workers, and other school support staff. Classified employees in each school district belong to a local association of employees that is an affiliate of the USEA. Jan Pace, president of the local Davis Classified Employees Association, said his organization is proud to serve the children and families living in Davis County. "Classified employees are committed to the students and schools in this area and each day they work hard to make sure every school day in Davis County Coun-ty is a safe and successful one for our children," he said. During the Utah Classified School Employees Week, classified employees will wear white ribbons to demonstrate the personal pride they have in the school system. "Classified employees are the unsung heroes of the public school system," said Janice Young, president of USEA. "Everything that we do touches the lives of the children who attend school. We make it a better place for them and their families. We safely drive them to school, record their attendance, feed them lunch, help their teachers, ensure they have supplies, sup-plies, keep their classrooms warm, and maintain their playgrounds and gymnasiums. We make their educational experience expe-rience both pleasurable and productive," pro-ductive," she said. On Saturday, May 4, the week will conclude with the annual USEA delegate conference at the Excelsior Hotel in Provo. Nine outstanding classified employees will be honored for their exceptional excep-tional service to their respective school districts at the conference. con-ference. Over 120 delegates from local associations throughout Utah will attend to discuss and vote on various issue affecting school support personnel. Gov.
