Show New script for pageant MANTI The 25th annual Mormon Miracle Pageant scheduled to begin in July will be the last of its kind, said Don V. Tibbs, chairman chair-man of the 25th Anniversary Committee in Manti. Tibbs said officials at LDS Church headquarters in Salt Lake City have decided to rewrite the pageant. It is expected that the pageant will be performed in the future but under a new script that is still being be-ing written. The pageant, which was first performed before a small crowd in a rodeo ground, drew a record 130,000 spectators last year, Tibbs said. "Each year folks travel to see the pageant from all over the world, he said. "When you consider that Manti City has a population popula-tion of about 2,500 people, the size of the audience, the presentation and production are remarkable. Each year it now requires more than 500 people for the cast and support.' |
