Show 4.9 million visit Temple Square Temple Square, operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, continues to be the most visited Utah location by tourists. A 1991 visitor count shows that an estimated 4.9 million visitors walked through andor took tours of Temple Square with its two visitor centers, Tabernacle, beautiful flower gardens and Mormon Temple. (The LDS Church, beginning in November 1991, discontinued discon-tinued releasing visitor count numbers for Temple Square and the Beehive House.) Approximately 12 to 13 million visitors see and travel Utah every year according to Jay C. Woolley, director di-rector of the Utah Travel Council. "Each year the travel industry in the state continues to see many more vacationers finding Utah a place of adventure, peace and serenity, near perfect snow, spectacular spec-tacular scenery in and around the national parks and friendly people," stated Woolley. Rounding off the top 10 visited attractions are Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Zion National Park, Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Bryce Canyon Ca-nyon National Park, LDS Family History Library, Wasatch Wa-satch Mountain State Park, Arches National Park, Capitol Reef National Park and Cedar Breaks National Monument. |
