Show Baseball skills clinic BOUNTIFUL The Viewmont High School baseball coaching staff will conduct an "Improve Your Baseball Skills" Clinic on April 4 and 11. The Saturday sessions, for players ages 9-16, will be held from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1 p.m.-4 p.m. The cost is $10 with parents and coaches invited to attend. T-shirts are available for $5. Viewmont coach Roger Farnsworth and his staff, joined by former major league pitchers Jerry Garvin, Dennis James and Dave Downs, will be on hand to teach the fundamentals of pitching, infield, outfield, out-field, catching and hitting. Promoting boating safety On Saturday and Sunday, March 28-29, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and Wal-Mart stores, nationwide, are joining forces to promote boating education and safety. Capt. Pamela V. Berger, commanding officer of the Utah Division of the Auxiliary, announced announc-ed that flotillas along the Wasatch Front will be conducting courtesy vessel safety examinations and providing advice for properly equipping equipp-ing boats with life-saving gear. Auxiliarists will also respond to boating safety questions. Ogden Flotilla 07-06, commanded by Ray Moser, will be stationed at the Riverdale Wal-Mart store, 1134 Riverdale Road, from 10 a.m.-to-6 p.m. both days. Brigham City Flotilla 07-08, commanded by Pat Cushman, will be on duty at the Layton Wal-Mart store, 745 West Hill Field Road, during the same hours. The sessions will focus on fishing boats. In May, similar sessions will be dedicated to recreational boating. Hot action on the ice SALT LAKE CITY The Salt Lake Golden Eagles, currently in fourth-place in the IHL Western Division, return to the Delta Center tonight at 7 against the Kansas City Blades. With six games left in the regular season, Salt Lake holds a nine-point lead over Phoenix in the race for the last playoff berth in the West. |
