Sr. Milagros Federico, what they wanted to do for Christian service, the students opted for helping their families and other teachers at the school 4 'If your parents tell you to do something, it makes you mad, but if you do it yourself, well, that's how it should be," Chris Vanderbur explained. The progress of each student was monitored with a sticker programeach time a student helped at home or at school without being asked, he or she received a sticker. r Jenny Perkins, Danny Robertson, Tim Newlin and Annie Parsell are a few of the many students who say they enjoy helping teachers and schoolmates with classroom chores. Some parents, like Carrie Thomas', were surprised when their children began voluntarily helping around the house. But the project has been rewarding for the students who have learned that volunteering to help others can be fulfilling. "We have learned a lot and we don't just help for the stickers-it helps the teachers a lot," Carl Fisher said. |
