Show Children of former residents i1 work with Metropolitan Opera Three youngsters, children of a former Mapleton and Springville Spring-ville couple are having a unique experience of working with famed stars of the Metropolitan Metro-politan Opera Company in New York, it was reported this week. They are Bob, Mary and t John Allan, sons and daughter - of Donald and Thora Whiting Allan of New York City. Grandparents of the children are Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Whiting Whit-ing of Mapleton and Mr. and Mrs. Henry K. Allan of Springville. Spring-ville. The children auditioned for their places with the Met and , do special walk-on parts and I script parts requiring singing ! children. John 12, has a role I in "Samson and Delilah." All three sang at the closing of the old Metropolitan Opera House and all three participated in "Anthony and Cleopatra" when the new Met opened. Their mother, a former teacher tea-cher in Springville High School is a talented singer and teaches teach-es the children and also teaches teach-es school. Their father studies in New York and sells art. There are two other children, Don the oldest, and Karen. All five play musical instruments. Their ages range from nine to 16 years. In addition to their music, the children together with their parents, take active part in the Manhatten First LDS Ward affairs.
