Show Springville man takes part in naval maneuvers Seaman Mitchell D. Curtis, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don D Curtis of 65 So. 800 E., Springville, participated in "Bead Stringer" as a crew-member crew-member aboard the destroyer USS Floyd B. Parks. "Bead Stringer," a U.S. First Fleet training exercise, was held off the coast of Southern Callif., and lasted from Jan- uary 4 through the 13. It Waa planned to prepare the 23 ships and nine air units that py. ticipated, for conditions pre. vailing in Southeast Asia. The exercise included advanced advan-ced training in surface warfare tactics, anti-submarine, air and PT boat warfare operations I. and shore bombardment.
