Show Routine items pondered by Springville officials The first regular meeting of the city council following installation, in-stallation, January 2, of the new council members, Calvin Baxter and Dr. Kenneth B. Creer, was held Monday evening eve-ning at the civic center. The mayor, F. Calvin Packard, and other councilmen, Earl Child, M. D. Peay and Leonard James were in attendance; also Recorder Verl S. Dallin; Treasurer Treas-urer Velda Widdison, Attorney Robert J. Sumsion and Judge Oliver H. Dalton. Business at the meeting transpired in the following manner: Robert J. Sumsion issued the oath of office to Judge Oliver Dalton and Judge Dalton issued is-sued the oath of office to Recorder Re-corder Verl S. Dallin and Treasurer Trea-surer Velda R. Widdison. Garth Killpack of the local Rifle Club met with the council coun-cil to extend an invitation to attend their activities and see what they are accomplishing in the gun safety program. The date agreed upon is January 31, te 7 p.m. The mayor expressed ex-pressed appreciation to Garth and the others working in this project. Reed E. Hanson of the Provo Daily Herald met with the council to request the city to participate in their 1968 Progress Pro-gress Edition. CI. Peay made a motion with a second by CI. James that the city participate the same as last year and this motion passed unanimously. Virg Hansen, Marty Perrero, Richard Rawle and a Mr. Wat-kins Wat-kins met with the council in regard to the increase of the license for pin ball machines. A meeting was called for January Jan-uary 23, at which time the Licensing Li-censing Committee will meet with these men to further discuss dis-cuss this program. Kenneth Long met with the council to discuss a problem in connection with Lota 24 and 25 of the Grindstone Planned Dwelling Group. It was originally origi-nally intended that these lots front on Hobble Creek, but due to an error in the survey, a strip of approximately ten feet remains between these lots and the creek. An agreement had been made to acquire the strip between these lots and the creek with the owner at the time the City acquired an option op-tion to purchase the land from said owner. In view of these matters, it was moved by CI. Child and seconded by CI. James that the city grant to (Cont. on back page, col. 5) Routine items pondered by council (Cont. from Page One) the owners of these lots an easement across the aforesaid strip for access to Hobble Creek if the property is acquired ac-quired pursuant to the city's option, from the owner. The proposed agreement of Utah Power and Light Company Com-pany was read and considered. It was moved by CI. Child and seconded by CI. Baxter that the proposal be accepted on condition that Utah Power and Light Company revise its proposal pro-posal to allow. Springville City to terminate the agreement at any time after five years, upon the giving two years notice. The motion passed unanimously. unani-mously. CI. James made a motion with a second by CI. Baxter, that the city contribute $220 toward the expense of the fall Pony League Tournament. It was passed with three voting yea and two voting nay. Governor Nelson A.
