Show Elk summary shows 20 success ratio A summary of the 1967 elk harvest has been released by the Division of Fish and Game covering both the open bull only hunting units and the hunts on the thirteen restricted units. For the first time the Daggett, Dag-gett, Vernal, Whiterocks, Bear River, and Manti elk hunts were opened to an unlimited number of bull only elk permits per-mits in order to provide additional ad-ditional recreational opportunities opportun-ities to Utah sportsmen. Thus, 3,429 Utah hunters secured permits and 3,283 actually actually journeyed afield to .hunt elk In these areas. They enjoyed 17,076 hunter days of recreation in pursuit of the wily bull elk. Harvest for these units was 669 bull elk for an average hunter success of 20, which was better than had been expected ex-pected in preseason ratings. On the other units where a restricted number of bull and either sex permits were issued a total of 995 hunters were I afield and they harvested 295 bulls, 52 cows, 13 calves for a than in 1966 with 119 more elk harvested in 1967.
