Show Committees named! by Mapleton City moyor present and desired the cooperation coop-eration of Mapleton City in placing an ad in the paper. Ray Whiting' motioned and it was seconded by Lavell Bird to place the ad after consulting with the two absent council-men. council-men. Wave Miguel, chairman of the Recreation Committee and Leonard Mason and Ray Bul-low, Bul-low, assistants, were present and discussed the feasibility of holding dances in Memorial Hall every Saturday night from 8:30 to mindnight. Terry Young will be in charge of the dances during the winter months. It was recommended by the Council to let him have the hall for these dances, but to check with the absent members mem-bers of the council before mak-(Cont. mak-(Cont. on back page, col. 3) Committee assignments were made at the Mapleton City Council meeting Monday night, to which council members Ray S. Whiting, S. LaVell Bird and J. Norman Graves were in attendance at-tendance with Keith Roylance and Collin Allan excused. Mayor Ma-yor Douglas Bills conducted the meeting. Wave Miguel read the minutes min-utes of the Recreation Board and their budget for the ensuing en-suing year. He stated that the girls dance class was underway under-way and that the Committee had budgeted for football, $110, Little League baseball, $50.00, Christmas candy, $50.00, Mountain Moun-tain Hike, $40.00, Pony League baseball, $50.00 with $75.00 set aside for a skating pond. Pat Neeley Sr. and Pat Nee-ley Nee-ley Jr. were present to offer their shervices to expedite any loan the Council wishes to enter en-ter into with the government. They were informed they would be notified when their services were required. Ray Whiting was authorized to investigate the possibility of investing surplus money on hand and he and the mayor would make final decision. Norman Graves reported on the city building. He was authorized au-thorized to purchase windows. He suggested that the floor tile should be put down and sheet rock for fire protection used. The Council decided to purchase pur-chase the same amount of dog tags as last year. Motion to pay outstanding bills was made by Ray Whiting and seconded by S. Lavell Bird and the meeting meet-ing was adjourned. Unfortunately, the man who thinks he can control strong drink seldom does. The choice of clothes is important im-portant but not all-important. |
