Show Local youth vins honors Karl Hayes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Darwin L. Hayes, 29 So. 400 East, has been honored for designing an original model from Tinkertoys, according to word received this week from the company. The youthful designer has received re-ceived a junior engineer certificate cer-tificate in recognition of his creative immagina t i o n and achievement and his model will automatically be entered in the 1967 scholarship award program pro-gram to find the most immagi-native immagi-native creation of the year. From 50 state finalists a national na-tional winner will be named. He or she will receive a $1000 Savings Bond scholarship and an expense paid trip to New York for the winner and parents. par-ents. State finalists will be named in February. Two juveniles denied the burglary of an electronics shop when the police confronted them with two tape recorders. The youngsters lost their plea for innocence when the police turned the recorders on and heard, "Our names are so-and-so and we just stole two tape recorders." |
