Show ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE BEFORE THE BOARD OF OIL, GAS AND MINING DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENERGY in and for the STATE OF UTAH IN THE MATTER OF APPROVAL OF THE NOTICE OF INTENT AND RECLAMATION PLAN SUBMITTED BY UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION, IRON COUNTY, UTAH NO. ACT-021-003 THE STATE OF UTAH TO ALL OPERATORS, TAKERS OF PRODUCTION, MINERAL AND ROYALTY OWNERS, open, excepting the Yellow Jacket, and a six foot high safety rick of run of mine waste rock will be dumped around all pit perimeters for safety purposes. 2. Waste dumps will have their final edges rounded and completion of regrading and reseeding will take place, finishing areas that will not have already been completed. 3. Company haul roads and miscellaneous service facility locations; well pump station, culinery water towers, powder storage area, will be reclaimed and reseeded with a list recommended by the Soil AND PARTICULARLY ALL PERSONS INTERESTED IN SECTION 2, 19 and 30, TOWNSHIP 36 SOUTH, RANGE 13 WEST, IRON COUNTY, UTAH. Notice is hereby given that tentative approval was given by the Division of Oil, Gas and Mining, on November 19, 1981, to United States Steel Corporation, to commence mining operations in Sections 2, 19 and 30, Township 36 South, Range 13 West, Iron County, Utah. The name of the mine is the Desert Mound Mine, and the person representing the company in this matter is Mr. Roy Benson, P.O. Sox ' 859,' Cedar'-' City, &tah. United States Steel Corporation has fulfilled obligations under the Utah Mined Land Reclamation Act of 1975 (Section 40-8, U.C.A., 1953, as amended), and will employ the following mining and reclamation practices: During Operations: Conservation Service. 4. All structures, foundations and machinery in the mill facility area will be removed with regrading, recontouring and reseeding bringing the surface back to a natural -configuration. 5. Fencing will remain in place or be installed around all waste dumps. Any person or agency aggrieved by this tentative decision is hereby requested to submit written protest within 30 days of the date of publication to the Division of Oil, Gas and Mining, State Office Building, Room 4241, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84114, setting forth factual reasons, ,,,,qr , ,t, .their complajnt.and .thereafter, . at a time and place heretobe established, appear before the Board of Oil, Gas and Mining to show cause, if any there be, why this plan should not be approved. The development phase will continue to involve the removal of the ore rock from the Mountain Lion Pit and proposed Homestake Pit in a series of stable 2:1 benches (average 50' vertical, 25" horizontal). 2. Waste rock will be dumped nearby filling up the abandoned Yellow Jacket Pit and disturbing a proposed dump area to" the north. 3. The stabilization and reclamation of this dump will be a continual process with rounding off of angular corners and revegetation progressing as each segment is completely filled. 4. Ore rock will be trucked the six miles over the company's gravel road to the mill area where it will be stockpiled and loaded onto trains bound for the Geneva Steel Plant. 5. Revegetation test plots will be maintained on the dump sites to enable better post mining success. 6. Support shops and facilities will be maintained adjacent to this loadout area. NOTICE The Iron County School District is presently accepting . teaching applications for a teaching position for a first grade teacher at the Enoch Elementary School.
