Show CEDAR CITY - An open house honoring Mel Ence on his 80th birthday will be Nov. 7. The affair will be conducted at the Cedar City Stake House, 155 E. 400 South, from 5 to 7 p.m: All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Homecoming queen pageant slated . A 'TV f Jennifer Wittkop Brenda Pattersson Julie Ann Judd Tracy Dewsnup CEDAR CITY A homecoming queen and her court will be selected Nov. 2 to reign over Southern Utah State College homecoming activities which are slated for the week of Nov. 1-7. The winner will also represent SUSC in the Miss Utah contest. "There are 17 girls vying for the title," said April Evans, pageant chairwoman. "A queen and her two attendants will be selected along with Miss Congeniality and Miss Talent." The pageant will begin at 8 p.m. in the SUSC Auditorium. Admission will be $1.50 for SUSC students with activity cards and $2.50 for all others. Craig Roberts, a professional entertainer out of Salt Lake City, will serve as master of ceremonies and will sing the 1981 homecoming song "The Best of Times." A panel of five judges will select the new queen using the same criteria established for Miss Utah and Miss America pageants. "Ten finalists will be selected in preliminary rounds of judging, and these finalists will perform their talent numbers at the pageant," Evans said. All 17 girls will appear in evening wear at the pageant, and a production produc-tion number with the contestants in swimsuits is also on the program. The 1981-82 homecoming queen will be crowned by Katie Thompson Clark, SUSC's 1980-81 homecoming queen. Hopefuls for the Miss SUSC-Homecoming . Kathy Bennett, a sophomore accounting major from Lake Tahoe, Calif.; Carolyn Adams, a freshman physical education-dance major from Washington; Tracy Dewsnup, a junior English major from Cedar City; Brenda Pattersson, a freshman elementary education major from Bountiful; and Debbie Evans, a junior elementary major from Sandy.
