Hustling Ben Bubak PAROWAN The Milford Tigers pounced on the Parowan Rams Friday and came away with a 46-6 victory in the Rams final football game of the season. The story was the same for PHS Friday as it's been all season. "We were hurt by the big plays," explained Ram coach Scott Doubek. "I thought we didn't play that bad even though the score doesn't show that." Watching the game, one would have to agree with Doubek. It didn't seem Parowan was being outplayed by as much as the score would indicate. A combination of big plays left the Rams thumped. Four of Milford's touchdowns were from 26 yards out or more. Reflecting on the season, Doubek gave his kids credit for sticking with it, despite their 2-6 record. They did have a big homecoming win which is something that Parowan hasn't seen for several years. "We'll just start building for next year," said Doubek. Milford scored first Friday following a PHS punt. A draw play went for big yardage and a short TD run followed. In the second quarter, MHS recovered a Ram fumble deep in Parowan territory and Chad Hardy hit a receiver for the TD. The PAT was blocked and Parowan trailed 12-0. Laney Johnson sc-ed again in the second period on a j-y; d run and it was 18-zip. The Rams ct.ne back before the half and Chad Robinson scored from one-yard out. Alan Burton hit Kelly Orton with a halfback pass to set up the score. The second half belonged to Milford. They scored midway through the third quarter when Hardy hit Ephie Tolman with a TD toss. The two-point conversion con-version was a success and Milford led 26-6. With 8:29 left in the game, Milford scored from around midfield after Tolman caught a screen pass and broke it for six. The Tigers booted the point after and it was 33-6. With only 1:21 left, the Tigers scored on a 32-yard pass play. They then made an apparently unclassy decision and tried an on-side kick with a 39-6 lead. The Rams recovered but on the last play of the game and season, Tolman intercepted a Burton pass and returned it 75 yards for a touchdown, resulting in the 46-6 final.
