Show Homecoming scheduled at SUSC Homecoming activities continue with the alumni banquet at 6 p.m. in the Large Ballroom. Gayle F. McKeachnie, District 68 Representative, will be the featured speaker, and Wanda Tollestrup, known to many as "Miss Wanda," will be honored as the association's Distinguished Service Award recipient. Banquet tickets are $6.50 per person and reservations reser-vations must be made by Nov. 2. They are also available from Thorley at 586-7777. A semi-formal homecoming dance with music by "Odessa" will wrap up homecoming activities. Beginning at 9 p.m. in the Large Ballroom, tickets are $5 per couple. CEDAR CITY "The Best of Times," Southern Utah State College's Nov. 1-7 homecoming celebration, begins Sunday with a devotional and ends with the alumni banquet and semi-formal homecoming dance Nov. 7. "We've put together an exciting week of activities ac-tivities and want to invite all SUSC alumni and friends of the college to join us," said Cheri Trejo, Monroe, homecoming chairwoman. chair-woman. Among the scheduled activities are the third annual SUSC Follies, a variety show extravaganza ex-travaganza featuring some of the best past and present college talent; the traditional mud bowl and torch run; pageants to select the homecoming queen and Mr. SUSC; and 50-Year Club and alumni banquets. Homecoming begins Sunday at 8 p.m. with a devotional in the Thorley Recital Hall. According to event coordinator Don Hulet, Summit, the program speaker will be Neil C; Petty, associate director, IDS Institute of Religion. Activities Nov. 2 begin at noon with the traditional torch run which is being coordinated coor-dinated by Jim Reese, Cedar City. A pie-eating contest will be underway at noon on the campus quadrangle under the direction of Colleen Pollock, Bryce Canyon. Different activities will be held on the quad at noon each . day, Miss Pollock said, with volleyball games, refreshments, a water balloon toss and other surprises being planned. A homecoming queen and her attendants will be selected at the queen's pageant Monday evening. The program will begin at 8 p.m. in the SUSC Auditorium; admission is $1. April Evans, Parowan, is directing the pageant. The winner will compete in the Miss Utah Pageant later on. Mr. SUSC will be selected Nov. 3 in a contest beginning at 7 p.m. in the Thorley Recital Hall. He and his court will reign with the homecoming queen during the week. Robin Murdock, Delta, is pageant chairwoman. A card dance will be conducted con-ducted that evening at 9 p.m. in the LDS Institute. The infamous Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Sun-dance Kid will be featued Nov. 4 in a double-bill beginning at 8 p.m. in the Small Ballroom, Student Center. The free movie duo begins with "Butch Cassidy The Early Years" and ends with the award-winning "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Sun-dance Kid." Valarie Carrol, Blanding, is the event coordinator. Traditional mud bowl activities begin Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. behind Manzanita Courts. This female-only football game is one of the dirtiest and most exciting hand-to-hand contests you'll ever see, according to Mont Forsyth, event chairman. A tug-of-war will be held along with the mud bowl for interested men. SUSC Follies will be conducted that evening at 7 p.m. in Thorley Recital Hall. There will be no charge for the show, chairperson Laurel Thurston, Cedar City, said, and everyone is encouraged to come and bring along their friends to enjoy this special program. SUSC's second annual Mini-500 will begin at noon Nov. 6 at Thun-derbird Thun-derbird Stadium. Bruce Brazee, Burley, Idaho, and Joe Fox, Circleville, are in charge of this marathon bicycle race which will be routed around the stadium area. A bonfire and pep ralley will be conducted at 7 p.m. that evening in preparation for the SUSC-Western SUSC-Western New Mexico football game the next day. Activities will be conducted in the stadium parking lot under the direction of Kevin Cutler, Sunset, and Belle Daugherty, St. George. The 50-Year Club Banquet will be Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. in the Small Ballroom. A friendship hour begins at 4 p.m. in the Library Special Collections Room with all members of the 1931 Branch Agricultural Class being welcomed into the prestigious organization. Tickets for the banquet are $5.25 each and can be reserved by calling Peg Thorely, alumni secretary, at 586-7777. 586-7777. Homecoming activities get underway Nov. 7 with the parade which begins at 10 a.m. Avece Higbee, Cedar City, is in charge of the parade winch will be routed from Safeway to the city park.
