Show Same old questions raised at Parowan Council meeting the possibility of faulty workmanship by Westinghouse only six months ago is being looked into. Cost estimates on the rebuilding of the plant are not yet available. In other action the Council Approved a $500 a year lease agreement with the Delaware-Orcal Television company allowing the cable company to install a receiving dish and maintenance supplies on the city yard property. Considered applications for the City recorder position being vacated by Ardell Hyatt. PAROWAN The agenda for Parown City's semi-monthly Council meeting last week read like a late summer's television log with "repeat" in parenthesis after each listing as Council members attempted to finalize continuing local issues from past months. In sharp contract to past meetings where major issues seemed to dominate the session, this assembly was marked by a lack of new problems to tackle or improvements to be analyzed. Instead, old problems with new twists to be solved took the majority of time, and for the most part they remained as they had arrived more questions raised than answered. In an ongoing effort by Charles and Karen Boardman to convince the Council to approve the City View Drive Annexation, many alternatives and suggestions were voiced, but the proposal remains unacted upon. The stumbling block to be stepped over may be a bit too high, however, since the problem involves an access road to the subdivision. At the present time residents of the proposed an nexation area are allowed to use a private right-of-way owned by Irving Goldman. Goldman has allowed the road to be used, but will not allow the city -to purchase the road. The City on the other hand will not grant the annexation if there is no public access road which it can maintain properly. What that means is that unless another access road to the subdivision is obtained the annexation will not be approved. Currently Council members are examining the possibility of building a new road, but costs are high and available funds are low. The Council also made plans to invite trackers and local trucking firms to meet to finalize a revision to the City traffic code. The revision, which has been in the making for sometime, would change the traffic flow of large trucks from residential areas to less populated roads. Truckers inputs and suggestions will be considered in the decision. Another problem involving a past decision was examined concerning the Paragonah power plant. Damage to the plant has been determined to be much greater than originally estimated, and |
